SWAP RC meeting 6-18-07 Bob Pollokoff called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM, at the flying field. He thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. 12 people attended the meeting held at the field. No financial report or minutes from last meeting were available and will be presented at the next meeting. OLD BUSINESS Safety. Bob showed what happens when a finger and propeller get into a wrestling match, and it was not good for the finger. The first aid kit needs to be mounted on the building and should be done as soon as possible. Again more safety, make sure when at the line with other fliers announce you intentions, taking off-landing-dead stick-etc., so all will know what is happening and not be startled. We do have a hearing impaired member and someone should stand with him and let him know what is happening. Greg did this last weekend. A spotter for each flyer is probably not a bad idea when it is possible. NEW BUSINESS Next fun fly is June 24th, would like volunteers to set up events and run them. Greg has some contests in mind so bring your best stuff. He can use some help so everyone will be welcomed to help. I was told I will not be allowed to cook as I did not get to fly at the last one, or else my cooking is not liked, who knows :). Art got an email from David Michael of PGRC to let everyone know they are having an IMAC contest the 25th and 26th of August. This is their 11th consecutive year. Registration opens at 9 AM, flying starts at 11 AM on Saturday. Flying starts at 9 AM on Sunday. Any questions about IMAC or flying this event can contact davidmichael1@comcast.net. It was brought up that the port-a-pot was turned over, not sure if by the kids or wind as it was very windy this past week. We will look into getting it secured to the ground. Discussion as to how it should be done went on, securing with wires over the top of the potty and secured into the ground, wires over the feet or holes through the feet. It will be looked into. We had one visitor that joined the club; his name is Jody Tversky - WELCOME. Wayne made mention of maybe having a helicopter flying station put in at the end of the fence so a heli pilot could be in the hover area and maybe slip out and fly over the field and then go back to the hover area. It would present a problem in communications and that the area for hovering should be used for hovering and the area over the field to use one of the pilot stations. After much discussion it was thought better of having it done. Mike Newman brought up about his wife would like to know if we would be interested in putting on a program at the library where she works, for the kids and maybe bring some videos or a heli or park flyer. This suggestion was made to try to get more kids into the hobby. After discussion it was decided that the library is not the place to do anything like that and maybe to have the come to the fun fly on the 24th. SHOW AND TELL Al Ballman brought an F-86 electric ducted fan ARF plane and Spectrum DX6 that he was given for father’s day. Looks like a nice plane but batteries were not included. Good luck with it, Al would like to see it fly soon. No door prize was available or drawn and meeting was adjourned at 7 PM - 1 -
