SWAP RC meeting 11-19-07 Greg Gee called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM, at the Hobby Town race track. He thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. 16 people attended. Minutes for the October meeting were read, voted on and approved. Financial report was not available. OLD BUSINESS The lock situation seems to be stabilized now. Rodney put heavy chain on and a new lock and we haven’t had any problems since. _______________ Greg stated he has a draft of the news letter for next month ready to go out, it will contain mention on the quorum vote. It will be sent out along with the dues invoices to save some money. _______________ Safety: after last month we thought the problem with a member was taken care of, but seems a couple of incidents happened again. Member is now flying with Ron Stahl for the jet style aircraft until certified. _______________ NEW BUSINESS Greg made mention of how our web site really needs some work done on it. He is looking at what other club s are doing and he has signed up for the web master site AMA offers. It was brought up that the roster needed updated and that will happen as part of the new web site. Look for it next year (not to far away). _______________ Next month’s meeting will be our pot luck Christmas meeting. We will also have a gift exchange, if you want a gift – bring a gift. Gifts will be limited to $25 and should be something airplane related. _______________ Ed made mention of the wattage per pound of airplane for the electric motors should be approx 150 watts per pound. Recommendations now should be the use of two batteries in electric planes now one to operate the motor and one to operate the flight surfaces. ESC should have a BEC (battery eliminator circuit) so two batteries can be used. According to Ed they (electrics) are coming on. _______________ Mike brought up about the library visit in February, they have a 30 X 60 foot room available and anyone that would like to bring a plane to show is welcome. Maybe we could buy some Delta Darts from AMA and pass them out. It was discussed that maybe if we were to do this again we could have a building type class to either do the Darts of maybe a Guillows model, time would be of the factor here. Library session will be on February 19. Wayne brought maybe people could invest in one of the small helicopters for $25 and maybe give it for a door prize. Of course Wayne would have to demo it :) Volunteers with laptop Flight Sims could be brought. _______________ Doc brought up for safety that people should not use the runway for landing if the flight line has a lot of people flying. It is very distracting and dangerous being so close to the flight stations. It was made mention that it would be a good idea to have a spotter with you when flying so they can keep a safety eye on the take off and landing of other planes. Use common sense when taking off and landing, buddy system is a good idea to use. _______________ Elections are coming up and Rodney said he would do the Treasury position until then. Show and Tell Mike Newman brought in a Saito 170, three cylinder engine for everyone to see. It was passed around and looks good; we are all waiting to see the engine in a plane (in the air). Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM - 1 -
