SWAP RC meeting 12-17-07 Greg Gee called the meeting to order at 7:20 PM, after the feed bag was put on at the Hobby Town race track. He thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. 21 people attended. Greg thanked everyone for coming and bringing the food, quite a spread, no one should have gone home hungry. He also introduced Cole the newest member, recently soloed and making most of us look bad. Minutes for the November meeting were read, voted on and approved. Financial report was not available. OLD BUSINESS Greg asked if everyone received a newsletter, most did, a couple did not receive one. He thanked Dave Ort for the printing and sending or the newsletter, picked up the postage and printing charges. Thanks Dave. Asked for ideas to be put in the newsletter and anyone with anything should contact Greg. _______________ Modifications to the by-laws for the quorum number to be 13 as a minimum number to vote on club business. This was voted on and passed unanimously, by-laws to be changed. _______________ Safety: out safety problem has eased up but still a helicopter was crashed on the field, and he was seen flying the jet planes alone, Greg to check and see if he has been released to solo from Ron Stahl. _______________ Porta Potty has not been serviced for over a month, not sure at this point if the unit should be up there as the county stops paying for it in November. Greg to call and check, we should be paying for it to stay through the winter months. _______________ Raffle tickets on Art’s P51 are available at the hobby shop now. _______________ Mike asked who was going to bring some planes to the demo at the Library on Feb 19th; he is trying to find out a schedule and how much room is needed. The January meeting will be used to set up a dry run. NEW BUSINESS E-mail list was brought up, Art said that was in the works and volunteered to take over the treasurer position for next year if club wants him to. Since all the invoices were return addressed to him he will take the job reluctantly. _______________ Upgrading the website was brought up; Greg has been doing some research in that area and will gradually make improvements. The newsletter will become part of that with sensitive info blocked out. _______________ Wayne brought up about maybe instituting a youth program, meaning that anyone under 16 be given a free membership. After much discussion and ideas being passed, that maybe an introductory year free and then paying, a parent being present and not being able to fly without a paying club member with him, the motion was passed. It was decided to write up rules and put these up in the form of a motion before the final quorum vote. _______________ Gifts were exchanged and more great food devoured, meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM - 1 -
