SWAP RC meeting 8-20-07 Greg Gee called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM, at the flying field. He thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. 18 people braved coming to the meeting with the torrential down pour and lighting. Minutes for the July meetings from the web page were voted on and approved. Financial reports were not available for the past three month, but Rodney did call and stated we have approximately $5400 in the treasury. Due to his job he is unable to make our meetings and he will have to give it up to someone else. If anyone is interested, please see Greg. OLD BUSINESS Tom has replaced the windsock, thanks Tom. The grass on the edge of the road has been cut back by the State as the County does not have the equipment to do it. Thanks to Steve on Rec council. The County has replaced the cable to the fire road with a new one and driven heavy poles across the access road. If we see any vehicles driving down the road we are to call police (911). No one is to use that road. The gate was locked incorrectly, by someone in the county as their lock was put through the chain twice and we could not get in. Dale cut the chain and corrected the problem. A reminder to all members, when locking the gate put our lock through the county lock so both the county and SWAP can open the gate. Greg will inform Steve on the rec council. Art talked about the September TOC, there will be a work party on Friday the 14th to hang banners, spruce up etc. We did get our ad in the September issue of MA. TOC to be like last year, low keyed. Ticket sales not as good as last year but will get there. Art needs someone to bring the plane from the hobby shop to the field; Charley Artley usually does it but might not make it up from Florida this year. Dale will take an inventory of food left and email Art. [Note: Chuck Hagar volunteered to bring the plane.] NEW BUSINESS Last meeting we voted to buy a Kayak from Bob K. Rodney talked to him this week and Bob decided not to sell the kayak to the club because of liability concerns. Greg stated that while looking for a way around buying the kayak he found that in the by- laws everything to be voted on required 2/3 of a quorum to pass, but there was nothing designating a quorum. After much discussion it was moved and passed that 13 would be a quorum. A newsletter will be sent out for the next two months advising members of this and another vote will be made at the meeting after that. A note should be made in the by- laws to this effect. Wayne mentioned about a couple of weeks ago, a guy comes up on a bicycle, frantic, stating someone tried to take his bike. The guy had a gun in the holster, 30 min. later there was a helicopter circling the field. Police came up and caught the guy in the bushes and he had part of a gun. This is just to advise members to be careful up here as we are not totally safe. After October, the county will pull out the port-a-pot. A motion was made that and we should continue to rent one during the winter until they again supply it for us. The motion was passed. Art made mention that club member Tom Stowe passed away; there was no viewing or public funeral. Tom will be missed; his wife said if any donations were considered that it should go to Hospice of the Chesapeake. A motion was made to donate $50 to Hospice of the Chesapeake in Tom’s name. It was voted on and approved. It was also mentioned that Bob Sinsky Sr. had a brain aneurism, nothing more is known of his condition. SHOW AND TELL Art had his 4 Star-120 at the field that he was working on all winter. He flew it before the rain came. It looked good even though he literally flew the monokote trim off. No door prize was available or drawn and meeting was adjourned at 7:15 PM. Next meeting moves back to the Hobbytown Racehaus at 7:30. - 1 -
