SWAP RC meeting 9-17-07 Greg Gee called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM, at the Hobby Town race track. He thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. 19 people attended. Minutes for the August meeting were read, voted on and approved. Financial report was not available, as Treasurer was not in attendance. OLD BUSINESS Art Vail did call in and advised that the TOC over the weekend cleared about $1592.00, about $450.00 more than previous year. Suggestions were requested on ways to improve this event for next year to bring them out. Several were made about keeping the non-fliers and visitors from getting too close to the planes and possibly getting hurt or damaging a plane. It was made mention that the pit area be moved between the fences. Parking improvement was brought up and maybe some people could park at the bottom of the hill. It was brought up that we try something for the up coming fun fly and see what works and then try something different if needed for the next until we find something that works. A flight pattern should be set up and enforced also. NEW BUSINESS For the next fun fly Mike Crum suggested some events and also VOLUNTEERED to set it up and run it. Next fly in will be on October 28, 2007. _______________ Rodney’s work prohibits him from making the meetings and we need to get a volunteer to take over as treasurer. Someone needs to step up and take it over. Doc volunteered if not one else can be found, but he has done it so much in the past that it was felt someone new should step up and help out here. _______________ Dave Parkinson informed Greg that he would like to give up the newsletter and it was asked for someone to fill his shoes. Mention was made about the frequency of distribution and maybe being sent out via email. _______________ The dirt piles were brought up and trying to figure when the best time to fill the duck pond so we still have optimum growing time for the grass. Josh said that within the next two weeks something should be done and he would supply some of the equipment and Rodney could get a Bobcat. Most of the dirt there is clay and should not be used; we should buy a couple trucks of top soil. It was motioned, voted on and passed that we use the money from the fun fly to purchase enough dirt to do the job. A date was set for Saturday September 29, as a work day to fill the pond. A vote was taken to use up to $2,000. to purchase dirt, seed, fertilizer etc. to get us started on the duck pond. Motion passed unanimously. _______________ Safety concerns came up again, wanting to know what can be done with the habitual violator of field regulations and flying of the pit area. It was brought up about a member being reported to the fire dept that a RC plane was seen flying near the housing area and also flying over the pits and members heads. This all presents a problem for safety and possibly getting us thrown off the field. Greg read that the club by-laws read that anyone who knowingly breaks the rules of the club, rec committee or AMA then the officers can by a unanimous vote temporarily suspend that person from flying privileges until the next scheduled meeting. At that scheduled meeting the membership must, by a majority vote, expel that member from the club permanently. Greg asked that anyone observing an individual doing this write an incident report each time including date, time and what was observed and given to him. This individual must have a chance to defend himself and we must have our ducks in a row. _______________ Mike brought up that his wife has come up with some dates for our library show and tell, they are in February on a Tuesday or Thursday evening. It was decided we should hold it on Tuesday the 19th at the Provinces Library around 7 PM. Mike will set the program up with a little help from his friends. _______________ PGRC has a giant scale fly-in this coming weekend on Saturday, and on Sunday a war bird theme fly-in. This news is from Art. Meeting was adjourned at 8:26 PM - 1 -
