Minutes of the meeting held May 16th, 2005.

The meeting was held at the field, there were 34 attendees.

The minutes of the April meeting were distributed in this quarter’s News Letter and were taken as read and approved.

Three new members joined this month:  Bill Jillson, Richard Lehr and Bill Bunn.

Bill Jillson has been a member of CBRC but now has joined us as he lives nearby.  Richard is new to the hobby and wants to fly.  Bob Bunn is also new to the hobby and hopes to get instruction on flying.

Sean Patrick presented a proposal for maintenance of the field by his company Terraverde Group

Inc. In this he is partnered with Mattie Cymek; Terraverde is a company that does construction

and landscaping.  The proposal is, by contract, to take over for the next two years, all the lawn  maintenance such as cutting, seeding and trimming, then renewable on a yearly basis.  Grass cutting would be at a rate of $125 a mowing.

Discussion on details of the work to be performed such as the height of the cut, the day of the week for cutting, etc. ensued.  As an alternative of course we could purchase a tractor and cut it ourselves.  After considerable discussion because of the financial burden entailed; a motion to go ahead with Mattie and Sean was made and carried unanimously.  Thanks were given to Neil Kuchli who has been a big help in the past with mowing and also to Robert Lehr who empties the trash cans each week and also attends to weed whacking.  Many thanks Bob.

The cutoff date for dues paying will be the end of this month.  The new combination for the gate lock will be as issued tonight and will be in effect after TOC, i.e. June 6th.  This combination will be given only to paid-up members.

The new fence is to be assembled this weekend, 6 or 8 volunteers are needed. On Saturday the posts will go in, and on Sunday the fence will be stretched onto the posts. Would be helpers can sign up with Stan Blum. Stan also thanked, on behalf of the Club, all those who helped install the Railroad ties and drove in the rebars.

TOC:

Art Vail gave a brief description of the TOC for new members.  It may be the most spectator-friendly model Air-Show on the East Coast.  It also helps to prop up the financial operations of the Club, as last year we made $2400.  It will be covered in the press this year in the local magazine “ The View”.  Again volunteer helpers make this possible and are needed as follows:

Thursday, 2nd June at noon.

Road signs and banner poles need to be set up.

Friday: 9am to 5pm. 6-8 helpers needed.

Tent erection, chairs, food stands, grill erection etc. Out of town flyers will begin to arrive, they have priority if you wish to fly. Free food will be available.

Saturday: 7.30am onward, all day.  15-20 helpers needed

Competition commences, all kinds of help needed  Turn up at any time to help.

Sunday is a repeat of Saturday

So far 22 pilots have signed up.  Probably about 35 will attend.  Last year we had 39 pilots sign but a few scratched during the contest.

Ray Wolfe usually flies in Sportsman, but hasn’t been heard from this year.  With 10 pilots signed up for this event there is some possibility that it will be overfilled, so if anyone sees him let him know that we need his entry.

TOC is a lot of fun even with the work, so come and help and pray for good weather.

Ron Stahl spoke concerning guests visiting the field.  Anyone who poses as a guest of Ron when he is absent from the field is misleading the Club.  Ron has sent a letter to this effect to the Club.

Parking and Road Improvements:

To lay crushed stone for the parking space and to improve the road in the vicinity of the pit and shelter areas Sean Patrick estimated a price of  $800 - $1000. This would be done a week or more before TOC.

Following discussion a motion to accept this offer was made and approved.  Helpers will be essential, but a Bob-Cat is available to help spread the stone if needed.

The meeting was then adjourned.
